SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION OF THE TEST
Procalcitonin (PCT) detection kit (CLIA) (hereinafter referred to as the kit) is used for the in vitro quantitative determination of Procalcitonin (PCT) concentration in human serum. PCT rise is diagnosed in bacterial abscess sepsis, especially in severe sepsis and septic shock. PCT can be used as prognostic indicators of sepsis, which is also a reliable indicator of severe acute pancreatitis and major complications. For community-acquired respiratory tract infections and pneumonia patients induced by air conditioning, PCT can be as indicator for antibiotic selection as well as indicator to determine efficacy.
Storage
• If testing will be delayed for more than 8 hours, remove serum or plasma from the serum or plasma separator, red blood cells or clot. Specimens removed from the separator gel, cells or clot may be stored up to 24 hours at 2-8°C.
• Specimens can be stored up to 30 days frozen at -20°C or colder.
SPECIMEN COLLECTION AND PREPARATION
Sample material: serum
Collect samples using standard procedures.
Sample volume cannot be less than 200μL.
Store at 2-8℃: 24 hours, for longer storage periods: freeze to below - 20℃
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles, stored samples should be thoroughly mixed prior to use (Vortex mixer). Please ask local representative of ZECEN for more details if you have any doubt.
